Beginning OS/390 COBOL

Description

This course uses lectures and handouts to introduce general programming concepts and provide an in-depth look at the process for design and development of COBOL application programs. Extensive lab work reinforces the concepts.

Audience

Entry-level programmers who develop business applications in COBOL.

Prerequisite

TSO/ISPF and OS/390 JCL.

Objectives

Students will be able to:

  • understand general programming concepts
  • design and code basic business applications in COBOL
  • incorporate conditional logic, data manipulation, and file handling
  • generate reports
  • debug and maintain COBOL programs
