Description

This combination of lecture and hands-on exercises thoroughly explains the concept of database logging and recovery under IMS Database Recovery Control (DBRC).

Audience

IMS technical support staff, DBAs, and senior IMS application programmers who manage IMS databases.

Prerequisite

TSO/ISPF, OS/390 JCL, and an understanding of IMS databases..

Objectives

Students will be able to:

  • allocate, initialize, maintain, and recover Recon data sets
  • use the GENJCL function to build JCL for IMS Database Utilities
  • use and maintain log data set information
  • register full-function and Fast Path databases to manage recovery and to protect from invalid use
  • describe the authorization process and its function in protecting database integrity
  • understand the interaction between IMS Database Utilities and DBRC
