This combination of lecture and hands-on exercises thoroughly explains the concept of database logging and recovery under IMS Database Recovery Control (DBRC).

TSO/ISPF, OS/390 JCL, and an understanding of IMS databases..
Objectives
Students will be able to:
- allocate, initialize, maintain, and recover Recon data sets
- use the GENJCL function to build JCL for IMS Database Utilities
- use and maintain log data set information
- register full-function and Fast Path databases to manage recovery and to protect from invalid use
- describe the authorization process and its function in protecting database integrity
- understand the interaction between IMS Database Utilities and DBRC
