Description

This course includes lectures and hands-on exercises that introduce IMS utilities to generate, monitor, and maintain IMS Full Function databases.

Audience

Database administrators, system programmers, and senior application programmers who need to install, manage, or maintain IMS databases.

Prerequisite

TSO/ISPF, OS/390 JCL, and an understanding of IMS databases.

Objectives

Students will be able to:

• generate and maintain IMS Full Function databases, secondary indexes, and logical databases
• backup and recover IMS databases
• use database tools to monitor space usage, data distribution, and performance
