Description

This course exposes the student to Advanced Java features such as Java Database Connectivity, the Java Electronic Commerce Facility, Remote Method Invocation, object serialization, JavaBeans, integration of Java with Live Connect and ActiveX, communication between Java and JavaScript, Java Servlets and Jeeves.

Audience

Java programmers who use advanced Java features.

Prerequisite

Introduction to Java Programming and three to six months experience.

Objectives

Students will be able to:

  • use the basic SQL syntax to conduct database transactions using the JDBC
  • write Java programs using RMI
  • understand the object serialization technique
  • control access to local disks using Java security features
  • use JavaBeans in interacting with ActiveX and Live Connect
  • use the Java Electronic Commerce Facility components to track payments and expenditures
  • call JavaScript functions from Java programs and call Java methods from JavaScript
  • use Java Servlets for CGI applications
