Description

This course provides a detailed introduction to Java, including thorough presentation of all aspects of classes and objects. It is especially designed to give mainframe programmers a solid foundation in object-oriented concepts and how to implement these concepts in JAVA. Note: the lab work may be done using VisualAge.

Audience

Programmers (especially mainframe programmers) for whom this is their first object-oriented language.

Prerequisite

Programming in any language.

Objectives

Students will be able to:

create intermediate-level Java programs

learn to use some classes of the Java core API and Java AWT

create class and class hierarchies

utilize Java documentation to learn additional packages available with Java
