Description

This course provides a detailed introduction to Java, including thorough presentation of all aspects of classes and objects. It is especially designed to give mainframe programmers a solid foundation in object-oriented concepts and how to implement these concepts in JAVA. Note: the lab work may be done using VisualAge.

Audience

Programmers (especially mainframe programmers) for whom this is their first object-oriented language.

Prerequisite

Programming in any language.

Objectives

Students will be able to:

  • create intermediate-level Java programs
  • learn to use some classes of the Java core API and Java AWT
  • create class and class hierarchies
  • utilize Java documentation to learn additional packages available with Java
