Description

A combination of instructor-led discussions and interactive workshops demonstrate the capabilities of IBM's WebSphere Studio tool for deploying web sites that incorporate interactive dynamic content provided by Java applications. Each student will gain exposure to the tool and its complementary products; WebSphere Page Designer and Applet Designer, as they design, construct and implement a web site that involves servlets, applets, Java Server Pages (JSP), and Java Beans.

Audience

Developers and other technical professionals that will be designing, developing and implementing interactive web sites using HTML, Java Applets, servlets, and Java Beans.

Prerequisite

A basic understanding of the WWW and the role of HTML with experience writing HTML applications. Experience with Java applets and a relational database is helpful.

Objectives

Students will be able to:

• understand the foundation and benefits of WWW and HTML design
• design, build, and assemble medium complexity web sites and e-business applications using WebSphere Application Server and WebSphere Studio
• generate interactive content by launching servlets, applets, JSP and Java Beans
• understand the role of the studio Workbench for managing source assets and importing/exporting a web site
• use the Web Art Designer and the WebSphere Page Designer with style sheets, tables, and frames
• build dynamic applications, like servlets and JSPs, to provide dynamic page elements
• demonstrate the use of java-script for creation of dynamic web sites
• discuss the use of Java Beans for additional dynamic content
