Description
This course provides an in-depth look at techniques that fully utilize the features and capabilities of REXX.
Audience
Experienced REXX users.
Prerequisite
OS/390 REXX, TSO/E, ISPF, ISPF Edit, and some experience with JCL and the ISPF Dialog Manager.
Objectives
Students will be able to:
- write efficient, readable REXX code
- choose between various REXX templates for parsing
- use INTERPRET and interactive debug TRACE
- compile OS/390 REXX execs
- convert data from one type to another
- command the TSO/E search order with ALTLIB
- provide front ends to OS/390 REXX execs using ISPF panels
- create built-in REXX functions
- trap console output from OS/390 and TSO/E
- manage the program stack
- read, write, and update OS/390 files
- create ISPF Edit macros
- describe sophisticated aspects of the time-sharing environment
