This course presents specialized techniques for testing in a maintenance environment.

Audience

Programmers and quality assurance personnel who test maintenance changes.

Prerequisite

Prior software testing experience.

Objectives

Students will be able to:

• understand how maintenance testing differs from other types of testing
• make sure that maintenance changes have no adverse "side effects"
• set up and maintain a regression test set
• predict the impact of various types of changes on a system
• eliminate tests that look different but are redundant
• reduce labor by using automated regression testing tools
