Motif and CDE Administration

Description

This course combines lectures with lab sessions to teach the concepts and techniques necessary to set up and manage an X Window system. Topics range from the basics to specifics for the X Window-based environments of Motif and CDE (Common Desktop).

Audience

System administrators, technical users, and programmers who are involved in managing a Motif or CDE environment.

Prerequisite

Unix Shell Programming and Unix Essential Operations or equivalent experience.

Objectives

Students will be able to:

  • set up and configure a Unix system to support the use of an X Window graphical environment
  • support the X Window environment from the administrator and the user perspective
