Description

This course teaches the commands and methods to set up and enforce a security domain on a Unix system. The problem solving approach of the lab work offers hands-on reinforcement of these methods.

Audience

Unix system administrators.

Prerequisite

Introduction to Unix and Unix Essential Operations or equivalent experience.

Objectives

Students will be able to:

  • load the Unix operating system with enhanced auditing features
  • check file systems for security problems
  • design and enforce a secure password specification and modification mechanism
  • review security considerations in other areas of a Unix system
