Unix Shell Programming

Description

This course uses either the Bourne or the Korn shell to review command line features, and provide a thorough introduction to looping and conditional constructs. The Korn shell version also demonstrates various shell options. The format includes lecture, class discussion, and programming exercises.

Audience

Application developers, technical users, system programmers, and others who need a thorough understanding of shell programming.

Prerequisite

Unix Basics and Unix Utilities or equivalent experience.

Objectives

Students will be able to:

  • create and use shell programs to process data
  • perform system and network administration tasks
