Description

This course combines lectures with lab work to teach VSAM data set organization, maintenance facilities, and the use of IDCAMS to access VSAM files.

Audience

Systems personnel who develop or maintain applications in a VSAM environment or IMS DB, CICS, and DB2 programmers who use VSAM as an OS/390 access method.

Prerequisite

OS/390, JCL, and TSO.

Objectives

Students will be able to:

• define, load, and access VSAM data sets
• create and maintain alternate indices
• create and modify generation data groups
• understand VSAM space calculations
