Microsoft Active Server Pages Fundamentals (ASP)

Description

This course teaches the use of ASP technology to dynamically build HTML web pages. The student will learn to program the Microsoft IIS web server using ASP technology to create web pages on demand to meet different requirements. The format includes lecture and lab work.

Audience

Server-side web designers, developers, and programmers who need to implement the server-side of their web applications.

Prerequisite

Basic familiarity with the web, HTTP, and a high level programming language.

Objectives

Students will be able to:

  • explain the architecture of web applications
  • describe the IIS web server operating environment
  • describe ASP role and its principles of operations
  • program simple ASP files using VBScript
  • program the major ASP built-in objects (e.g. Request, and Response Objects)
  • interface the ASP to a server-side database using the ADO (Active Data Object) Object
  • use standard components in ASP pages (e.g. CDO Collaboration Data Object)
  • analyze, design, and develop a web application using the ASP technology
