Description
This course combines a lecture and discussion format with hands-on exercises to illustrate the following topics: query selection, data manipulation tools, report data sorting, data filters, drill down capability, report formatting, and distribution techniques.
Audience
Clients that access information in a corporate data warehouse and need to use the interactive reporting abilities of BusinessObjects to create, view, save, and print customized reports.
Prerequisite
Working knowledge of Windows 95/98/NT and familiarity with your Data Warehouse structure.
Objectives
Students will be able to:
- understand the role of BusinessObjects for accessing corporate data
- develop and execute BusinessObjects queries
- use filters for defining conditional selection properties
- add sort functions to manipulate report sequences
- insert calculations and aggregate functions into queries to generate derived data columns
- understand the grouping and sorting operation and its impact on query performance
- modify the report layout to add headers, footers, and other customized information to the report template
- use the drill down function to provide in-depth analysis or report information
- illustrate techniques for report distribution and sharing
- use the Slice & Dice panel to provide further delineation of corporate data
